My goal is to support women in attaining their birth in a way that is satisfying and fulfilling for them and to provide the tender loving care that every birthing woman and her family deserves.
Choosing a care provider is a very personal thing. You are looking for someone to support and guide you and your partner through one of the most important events in your life. I schedule a free initial interview where you can ask me questions, go over your priorities and expectations, get a feel for me and how I work so that you may determine if I am the care provider for you.
My opinion toward birth is that it is a natural event and a major event in a woman’s and couple’s life, affecting the psychological as well as the emotional and physical aspects of their relationship. I promote non-pharmacological options for pain-relief, and fully informed consent for all procedures used on a woman and baby during this time. My most primary concern is that the power, integrity, and dignity of each woman/partner and baby is enhanced and intact during and following their births.
In the event that medical intervention is necessary, I support women and their families in the choices they make, provide informational support, and work to maintain the sanctity of the birth space as they originally intended it. I do believe there is a place for medical technology: during births that have true complications. Otherwise I believe birth is a normal process that is best left undisturbed. The births that do need further assistance still require the compassion, gentleness, and spiritual recognition they deserve.
As your care provider, I work for you. I do not have a preconceived idea of how I think your birth should be – my role and goal is to support you in achieving the birth experience you desire, and appreciating the birth that you have as it unfolds. I will hold your desires in the forefront of my caring for you, and do my best to help you have a fulfilling birth experience.
In case of transport, my role shifts to childbirth assistant/doula

As a childbirth assistant, I DO NOT:
The goal of post-partum services is to allow the home environment to be as calm as possible the first weeks after the baby is born. A calm home will permit the family to bond with the new baby and allow the mother to rest and recover so she is able to take care of the baby. Most women cannot rest comfortably in a house that is not cleaned and well taken care of, feeling the need to do it themselves, and inhibiting the necessary bonding and healing that takes place in the first two weeks.
Because I recognize a family's need for support does not end at birth, I am also available for home visits to those who need extra support after baby is born. This also makes a great gift from the Grandparents, other family, or even friends, who wish they were there to help, but couldn't make it at the time.
Service packages will be arranged on an hourly or weekly scale, with days consisting of 3-4 hours. Times of services will be determined as soon as the parents contact me for scheduling, following the birth of the baby. Payment is due on or before the date of service.
Overnight stays are available; a 24 hour period.
My work may cause me to be called away for a birth during the term of service with you. If this happens you will be notified that I will be unable to attend your appointment and the missed service will be rescheduled as soon as possibleOther duties may be negotiated on an individual need basis. It is helpful if you have a list of needs prepared for each meeting. During the service period you may contact me for telephone support at any time. Telephone support will not be billed as work time under normal circumstances. It may be helpful to telephone if you have items you need picked up so our appointed time may be most efficiently used. If I purchase items for you during the course of employment please be prepared to reimburse me upon receipt of goods.
